Married At First Sight (MAFS) has reportedly found a new expert to appear on the reality show after Mel Schilling sadly passed away in March 2026 following a battle with colon cancer.
Just like clockwork, MAFS 2027 tea is already being spilled as production kicked off last month with a whole new bunch of brides and grooms spotted tying the knot across the country.
Alongside the new participants, there will also reportedly be a new expert sitting on the couch alongside John Aiken and Alessandra Rampolla.
Daily Mail Australia has reported that relationship personality and “Australia’s #1 Relationship Expert” Brigitte Zonta, also known as Dr Lurve, has been cast on the show.
“No one can replace Mel, and that is not what they are asking Dr Lurve to do,” the insider told the publication.
“She has her own voice, her own energy and her own way of connecting with people.”
The insider added that producers picked Zonta due to her warmth and humour paired with her ability to “cut through the excuses when somebody is not being honest”.
At the time of writing, Dr Lurve has not responded to the claims, and has privatised her IG and scrubbed all her posts.
PEDESTRIAN.TV has reached out to both Nine and Dr Lurve for comment.

Schilling’s death sent shockwaves across the globe, with her fellow MAFS Australia experts remembering her for her warmth and honesty.

A month before her death, the beloved relationship expert confirmed that MAFS 2026 would’ve been her last season.
“After 12 extraordinary seasons, I have made the heartfelt decision to step away from my role as an expert on Married at First Sight Australia,” she said in a statement from Channel Nine.
“This hasn’t been a choice I’ve made lightly. In recent years, my health challenges and living in the UK, spending up to three months a year away from my family, are no longer sustainable. It has become clear that I must make a change that puts my family, health and time at the very centre of my life.”
Channel Nine has yet to confirm reports about a new relationship expert on MAFS 2027, but we believe Dr Lurve is definitely one to watch for the role!
