We’ve heard before that new seasons of Married At First Sight [MAFS] will be ‘the most explosive yet’, but if recent whispers are to be believed, the 2026 season might actually walk the walk.
That’s according to production insiders who spoke with the Daily Mail ahead of the show’s 13th season, which is already in production and is slated for a premiere sometime next year.
By now we’re accustomed to each season of the reality dating show heralding a shiny new villain — wine glasses are never safe — but a source has now claimed that the entire cast for MAFS’ new season will reach villain status at some point.
“No one is the villain because everyone is the villain at some point. It changes every week. It is emotional whiplash,” an insider told the Daily Mail.
“You do not get a moment to breathe. People flip from sweetheart to nightmare in under an hour,” they added.
Details about the villainous behaviour remain scarce, but it’s reported the cast’s antics result in emotional breakdowns, fractured alliances, and imploded friendships. You know, all the typical stuff one does when ‘looking for love’.
It’s also reported that some castmates blocked each other on social media, refused to film scenes together, or cut ties completely amid on and off-screen drama.
The contestants were so rowdy that production was apparently forced to show some of them a montage of their most toxic moments in the hopes of calming things down. If the insiders are to be believed, that tactic didn’t exactly work out.
“We basically ran a daycare for adults who refuse to behave. No one has seen a season like this … They went for each other’s character. These are wounds that will not heal,” the sources said.
Naturally, all this contention led to a season chock-full of eyebrow-raising moments, to the point of eclipsing the love stories. “The drama overshadows everything,” a source said.
The insiders claims should be taken with a grain of salt, but there are a few details about MAFS’ upcoming season that we know to be true. We do know the 13th season is in production and is filming, with a release date in early-2026.
We also know the cast was subject to new protocols around drug-testing, curfews and zero-tolerance policies for contestants with criminal histories.
But beyond that, all the other deets we’ve gotten — including rumoured cast lists, reports of mid-season axings and indeed these recent claims about the cast’s villainy — remain purely speculative at this point.
So buckle in for a hell of a ride as more juicy tidbits for MAFS’ new season emerge. By the sounds of it, we’re in for a treat — or a horror show, depending on how you look at it.
