Electric motorcycles are steadily gaining ground in Europe and Asia, especially as alternatives to small-displacement ICE bikes. With growing concerns over emissions and fuel prices, more urban riders are looking toward low-maintenance, eco-friendly two-wheelers. In cities like London, Paris, and Bangkok, electric bikes are now a practical and increasingly popular choice.
Maeving, a British manufacturer based in Coventry, takes a slightly different approach. Rather than going mass-market, the brand focuses on premium, classically styled electric motorcycles. Its lineup is small and curated, with attention to detail, high-end components, and a direct-to-consumer business model.
The Maeving Blackout is the brand’s latest offering, and is essentially a darker, more refined version of its RM1S model.

The Blackout uses a hub-mounted brushless motor with a peak output of 11.1 kW (around 15 horsepower) and 261 Nm (193 pound-feet) of torque. That translates to smooth, silent acceleration up to its top speed of 70 miles per hour. It’s powered by two removable LG battery packs, each with 2.73 kWh of capacity. In Eco mode, the combined range is up to 90 miles, dropping to around 52 miles in Sport mode.
Charging is flexible: you can remove the batteries and plug them into a wall outlet, or charge them on the bike via a standard cable. A full charge takes 6 hours, while 20 to 80 percent takes just 2.5 hours.
As for the ride itself, the bike features a CrMo steel frame, 37mm front forks, and K-Tech Razor Lite shocks at the rear with preload and rebound adjustment. Seat height is a manageable 787 mm, and curb weight is 311 pounds—light enough for easy maneuvering in tight city streets. The braking system uses a single 300 mm front disc and a 180 mm rear disc, with a linked setup that distributes braking force to each wheel.

Design is where the Blackout stands out. It features matte carbon detailing, a blacked-out battery housing, bar-end mirrors, and a sleek LED headlight that blends vintage styling with modern function. A 10-liter storage tank includes a USB-C port for charging gadgets, and an analog speedometer with a digital screen offers key ride info. There's also an optional GPS tracker system for added security.
The Maeving Blackout starts at £8,995 (around $11,200), with delivery times ranging from 8 to 10 weeks. It’s sold directly through Maeving’s website, and maintenance is handled by mobile engineers, making ownership relatively hassle-free.
