Chelsea fans have wished midfielder Billy Gilmour ‘good luck’ after the youngster was pictured at Norwich City’s training ground ahead of his season-long loan switch to Carrow Road.
The 20-year-old starred for Scotland on his international debut against England at Euro 2020 less than two weeks ago but sadly suffered a huge blow in the days that followed after he tested positive for Covid-19.
Because of an enforced isolation period, Gilmour was made to sit out of Scotland’s clash with Croatia at Hampden Park, and ultimately, he was denied the chance to represent the national side in the tournament again as the Scots crashed out following defeat
As good as his lone performance in the tournament was, it wasn’t enough to keep him in Thomas Tuchel’s plans for the upcoming Premier League season.
Gilmour made just 11 appearances for the Blues last campaign, and failed to get above Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic and N’golo Kante in the German boss’ midfield.
However, Chelsea do want to keep him long-term, and his performance at the Euros warranted significant interest from a number of clubs.
Rangers were previously said to be interested in bringing the star back to the Ibrox, whilst the likes of Southampton have also monitored his situation very closely.
Chelsea ultimately desire for him to stay in the Premier League in order to get regular top-flight football, and it appears as though he will get just that as a move to Norwich has all but been confirmed after images of Gilmour at the club’s training ground surfaced across social media.
Luckily for Gilmour, the Chelsea fans all have the same message for him.
