MADURAI/TRICHY: Two new cases each were recorded in Madurai and Trichy on Thursday, taking the number of active cases in Madurai district to five and in Trichy to three.
A total of six new cases were recorded in the 10 southern districts including two in Tirunelveli and one each in Theni and Kanyakumari.
With Theni adding one case on Thursday, all districts in the region have active cases. Sivaganga with si cases has the highest, followed by Madurai (5), Tirunelveli (4), Ramanathapuram (4) and Virudhunagar (3).
Tuticorin and Kanyakumari have two active cases each while Theni, Dindigul and Tenkasi have one each.
The central region including Trichy recorded five fresh cases including one each in Karur, Pudukottai and Thanjavur.
The number of active cases was 17 and there was no change in the death toll of 4,691.
