MADURAI/TRICHY: Madurai district reported two new Covid-19 cases, 2 recoveries and 21 active cases on Thursday. No Covid-19 deaths were recorded in the district over the last 15 days. Trichy reported three fresh cases, nine recoveries and 49 active cases.
The number of new cases recorded in the ten southern districts of Tamil Nadu dropped to 13 on Thursday. Kanyakumari (3) recorded the highest number of new cases in the region, followed by two cases each in Madurai and Tenkasi districts. Six districts that recorded only one case on the day are Dindigul, Virudhunagar, Sivagangai, Ramanathapuram, Tuticorin and Tirunelveli. The southern region had 31 recoveries and the number of active cases in the region dropped to 171.
The nine central districts including Trichy recorded six fresh cases. The region counted 113 active cases, while it discharged 26 patients on Thursday. The toll of the region stood at 4,691 with no casualty.
