Madonna is said to be more determined than ever to bring her long-delayed biopic to fruition.
The Queen of Pop announced that she would be directing and co-writing the movie about her life back in 2020 and is refusing "to take no for an answer" despite several years of false starts on the project.
An insider told RadarOnline.com: "She will not take no for an answer. This is her story – and she's going to tell it her way."
The biopic, in which Ozark star Julia Garner is attached to play the Material Girl hitmaker, is said to have been quietly revived recently after being put on hold in 2023 and could now take the form of a limited series rather than a movie.
The source explained: "Madonna realised the story is too big for two hours. She wants the full ride – the struggle, the ambition, the chaos."
Madonna, 67, is said to be refusing to compromise on her grand vision for the film.
The source stated: "Madonna doesn't do small. Ever."
The Like a Prayer artist previously teased the idea of turning her biopic into a TV series in 2024.
Madonna wrote on Instagram at the time: "After struggling for days in LA, listening to producers and agents tell me why I couldn’t make my film — (I been working on it for 4 years!!!) downsize-down scale – think smaller – they say — I realised that everything in my life is going to be challenged.
"No easy rides for me. I guess I should be grateful... It forces me to think outside the box. I did not have a normal life.
"I cannot make this in the normal way… Spending time with my creative friends was just the fuel I needed to keep going!
"We all agreed that we need to be even more fearless!!! Art = Survival. We cannot shrink and make ourselves smaller.
"If you want something badly enough in life - the whole universe will conspire to help you get it. Should I make the story of my life into a series or a feature film? Think before you answer!! (sic)"
Madonna previously opened up about the work she was putting in to try and trim the movie's script.
She told Variety in 2022: "I have a very long script that is really hard for me to make shorter. I’ve been whittling away at it, but it’s like hacking off my limbs."
