You could win a date with Madonna this Valentine’s Day – at least you could if you happen to frequent gay dating app Grindr.

The pop star is running a competition in the run-up to the release of her forthcoming 13th album, Rebel Heart, with the grand prize allowing five fans the chance to interact with her. Entrants have been asked to recreate the album artwork for Rebel Heart and post it as their Grindr profile picture, along with the hashtag #LivingForLove, in order to have a chance of winning.

The album’s sleeve artwork has previously caused controversy, with Madonna facing accusations that she was hijacking black culture after she had taken to Twitter and Instagram to share pictures of Nelson Mandela, Bob Marley and Martin Luther King, all mocked up in the style of the album sleeve.

The Grindr competition is far from the first social-media experiment Madonna has undertaken surrounding the promotion of Rebel Heart. Last week, she unveiled the video for Living for Love on Snapchat’s new Discover function. She also used Instagram to reveal that she would be appearing at this year’s Brit awards.

Not all of the campaign has gone according to plan, however. On Christmas Day 2014, 14 tracks supposedly from the record leaked online. Speaking to the Guardian, Madonna said: “It was not a consensual agreement. I did not say, ‘Hey, here’s my music, and it’s finished.’ It was theft.”
