She’s the best-selling female recording artist of all time – shifting more than 300m records and grossing more than £1bn in ticket sales.
But I can reveal that Madonna is struggling when it comes to her Madame X tour in London.
Her net worth was listed by Forbes at £485m, which sees her among America’s wealthiest self-made women.
But only half the tickets for the superstar’s 15-date London performances are showing as sold so far.
They went on sale on Ticketmaster three months ago for the shows which start in January.
A source said one of the reasons for lacklustre sales was because you need to be a Material Girl to afford them. The cheapest are a wallet-busting £376 and they go up to £1,247.
The source says: “It was thought some fans will pay extra to see her in a smaller venue, but the tickets are extortionately priced and Madonna is struggling to sell out her string of intimate concerts in London.
"It’s not a good look for the Queen of Pop who is normally a big hitter.”
The God Control singer, who has the most No1’s on the Billboard charts, announced she was celebrating the release of her 14th album Madame X with 76 rare and special performances running from September this year through to February 2020.
It’s the first time she has played theatre venues on a tour since 1985’s ground-breaking Virgin Tour.
The tour kicks off next month in New York. Madge, 60, will then play in her adopted home of Lisbon before heading to the London Palladium in January.
She has been written off before and survived. I’ve no doubt she’ll bounce back from this setback too.
