Madonna has been 'wearing herself thin' for months as hospital dash serves as wake up call

Madonna has reportedly been "wearing herself thin" for months as she gets ready for her world tour.

Fans were shocked on Wednesday at the news the Queen of Pop had been rushed to hospital at the weekend.

The singer, 64, fell ill on Saturday and a relative revealed they had been "preparing for the worst".

It's understood Madge had a "serious bacterial infection" and was found unconscious at home, with her manager sharing the news of her health in an Instagram post.

She was rushed to hospital and hooked up to a ventilator and intubated so a breathing tube was passed down her throat and into her lungs.

Thankfully the Like A Prayer songstress is said to be back home in New York City now, but still under medical care.

It's expected the mother-of-six will make a full recovery, but she been forced to "pause" her upcoming 40th anniversary tour which was due to start next month.

And now family members are said to be hoping the scary ordeal can work as a wake up call for the star who had been "wearing herself thin" for months.

A family source told Daily Mail that her sudden hospitalisation has united them all. "All of Madonna's family members have come together over this," the relative told the publication.

They revealed it will hopefully serve as a reminder to the singer that she needs to make sure she takes care of herself.

"This really woke her the f*** up," they continued.

"She has not been living as healthy a life as she should be for her age, and she has been wearing herself thin over the past couple of months."

The family member added the musician still thinks she is young, but says she simply is not, claiming Madge thinks she is "invincible".

Sources close to the singer claimed she had been working tirelessly for months to make sure her tour goes off perfectly.

One claimed she had been rehearsing hard for six days a week.

As news of Madonna being out of hospital circulated, fans were quick to share their relief online.

One fan took to Twitter and wrote: "I’m glad she’s okay because it is way too soon to lose the queen of pop."

Another agreed and simply wrote: "Thank god. Great news, while a third added: "Hope she can recover fast, but she can take as much time as she needs."
