Madonna has had her first ever tattoo at the age of 62 and it is a tribute to her six children.
The legendary pop singer posted a series of photos to her Instagram on Monday night, showing her masked up and laying back on a tattooist's couch so that she could get inked.
The singer gave a detailed insight into the moment captioning the photos: "Inked for The Very First Time…………..✍️. #family”
Madonna also tagged the Shamrock Social Club in Hollywood and the tattoo artist East Iz.
The currently candy floss pink-haired singer is seen showing the tattoo artist where she wants the artwork in the fist photo before completing the paperwork in the second pic.
A third photo shows Madonna holding her arm out, with the inside of her wrist exposed as she discusses the location of the inking.
There is another shot in which the singer is laid back on the couch as the tattoo is being done. It is fair to say that she is not looking like she is particularly enjoying the experience, as she closes her eyes and has a pained grimace on her face.
She is then showing off the results of her time in the studio, with the initials "L R D M S E" tattooed on her wrist to honour her six kids – Lourdes, 24, Rocco, 20, David, 15, Mercy, 14, and eight-year-old twins Stella and Estere.
Madonna shares Lourdes with ex Carlos Leon, which she had Rocco with ex-husband Guy Ritchie, with the other four children were adopted.
This comes just days after the iconic singer shared a rare snap of all her children on Thanksgiving Day.
The incredible photo came as a shock for Madonna's fans as it's not often they get to see her huge family together.
