Madonna is the latest among many celebrities who have showed their vocal support for Britney Spears amid her bid to end her father’s conservatorship.
“Give this woman her life back. Slavery was abolished so long ago! Death to the greedy patriarchy that has been doing this to women for centuries,” Madonna wrote in an Instagram story of her adorning a Britney Spears shirt.
“This is a violation of human rights! Britney we coming to get you out of jail!”
The pop sensation has been a fan of Spears ever since they collaborated on a 2003 song “Me Against the Music.” The two also shared a kiss during the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards.
On June 23, Spears gave harrowing testimony in a court hearing where she claimed that she had been forced to take birth control, be placed in a rehab facility and work under unbearable conditions. As part of her testimony, she requested that her conservatorship be terminated without any evaluation.
