Madjid Bougherra on his Rangers 'fatty boys' double act with Kris Boyd as he reveals demands that tormented Jimmy Bell

Madjid Bougherra joked he'd always choose Kris Boyd to play in his all-time XI - so they could eat burgers together.

The former Rangers defender revealed the pair were known as the "fatty boys" during their stint at Ibrox.

Boyd and Bougherra played together between 2008 and 2010, winning six major domestic honours - including two league titles and two Scottish Cups.

The Algerian also gave a nod to Pedro Mendes as he reminisced on his spell in Glasgow.

Bougherra told the This Is Ibrox podcast: "As a midfielder (Pedro Mendes), unbelievable technique and ability.

"When I watched him, the touch, everything was amazing.

"And Kris Boyd. He can score many goals and we can eat a burger together.

"Me and him were the fatty boys when we were there."

Bougherra admits he always used that moniker to wind up kitman Jimmy Bell.

The centre-back admits he would make demands for excessively large shirts and shorts to give Bell "a headache".

He added: "Jimmy Bell, I gave him a headache. With shorts, I wanted double XL.

"And with the shirt I said: 'No, I want it like this, not like that'.

"I gave him a headache. The shirt was too tight, I don't have the body.

"In 2014, I lost maybe 20 kilos but before that? No, impossible."
