Madison Beer apologises for 'poorly timed post' amid George Floyd death

Madison Beer has apologised for her 'poorly timed post' amid the George Floyd tragedy.

The 21-year-old singer was slammed for sharing an emotional live feed about beauty standards at a time of national outcry over the death of a African-American man while he was being arrested.

In the clip, Madison talked about her lip fillers and denied going under the knife after a follower accused her of promoting 'unrealistic beauty standards'.

She also added that she felt like crying over the accusations because it was her 'natural face'.

Speaking to her 2.7 million fans, some criticised her over the 'poorly timed' post.

The songstress and model, who shot to fame when Justin Bieber retweeted one of her videos, then took to Twitter so explain herself.

Madison added: "I saw a video of someone claiming i give people eating disorders which triggered and upset me a lot - bc that is not something i take lightly."

In a collection of lengthy posts, she went on to defend her actions and pointed out that her video was in no way related to what has recently gone on in the United States.

"in no world was what i was upset about in the same STRASOPHERE as ANYTHING going on, but as someone who’s struggled with my relationship with food for years, i saw a video and acted in a moment of hurt & went live.

"i was in no way trying to negate or compare to what is going on."

The songstress has received a relatively positive response from her followers, who supported her decision to defend herself.
