BHOPAL: On Friday, vaccination of pregnant women started across the state; more than 15,000 women were vaccinated in MP on the first day of the process.
Vaccination of these women was carried out between 9 am and 5 pm in district hospitals, community health centres and other places where universal vaccination takes place.
“The overall response on the first day was very good and no adverse events were reported”, state vaccination officer, Dr Santosh Shukla told TOI.
On an average, around 20 lakh women get themselves registered for ante-natal care in the state every year, said official sources.
Vaccination of pregnant women will be carried out on Tuesdays and Fridays when universal vaccination is carried out.
As per the instructions issued in this regard, there will be no requirement for pre-registration; onsite registration will be done for vaccinating of pregnant women.
As per the guidelines, the inoculated pregnant women were made to wait for 30 minutes and kept under observation. For the next 20 days, a follow up will be done to take stock of any adverse effect.
Maximum vaccination was reported from Neemuch district where around 1300 vaccine doses were administered followed by Tikamgarh and Niwari, where around 1200 pregnant women were vaccinated, followed by Datia where also around 1200 vaccine doses were administered.
