BHOPAL: At least three Maoists including a woman were shot dead in Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh during a five-hour long operation.
The encounter was reported in Kadla village under Bahela police, 15km away from Lanji headquarters.
The deceased were identified as Nagesh, Manoj and Ramu- all were members of Tanda and Darekasa Dalam. Nagesh was a divisional committee member while Manoj was an area committee member.
The police seized an AK-47 and other weapons from the spot.
Senior officials informed that they had a specific input about their movement in the region. When asked to surrender, they started firing on police team forcing them to fire in defence, officials said.
