BHOPAL: Three kids aged between 14 and 9 years got drowned in a pond in Chhindwara district. Six teenagers had gone for a picnic, 3 of them survived.
Bodies of all the three were fished out at around 11.30 pm on Monday night.
Incident took place at a pond situated behind Garmeta temple in the area. Deceased have been identified as Yash Sahu, 14, Saksham Yadav, 12 and Kartik, 9, all residents of ward number 1 of Amarwada town.
“The six boys had gone for a bath in the pond, three of them drowned and three survived. Bodies were found at around 11.30 pm. When the three kids did not return home, kin lodged a complaint with police around 8 pm and teams started searching for the kids. The bodies were taken out at around 11.30 pm”, additional SP Chhindwara, Sanjeev Uike told TOI.
Sources said that the three friends who survived, were so scared that did not tell about the incident to the others and remained at their homes. “Whether the other kids informed others or not is a part of investigations, a case has been registered and the friends who have gone with the kids will also be questioned,” Uike said.
Local MP and son of former CM Kamal Nath, Nakul Nath expressed grief over the incident.
Sources said that all the six kids were playing in a playground near the temple and after sometime they decided to take bath in the nearby pond.
