Madhya Pradesh: Thieves strike liquor shop on ‘dry day’ in Mangalwara, take away 13 bottles

BHOPAL: Unidentified accused targeted a locked liquor shop in Mangalwara locality on ‘dry day’ marked recently and decamped with 13 bottles of liquor and an LED TV worth Rs 10,000. CCTVs were fitted in the shop but the images captured were blurred due to darkness, said police.

Police said that complainant Balwant Singh Yadav, 55, a resident of Durga Nagar in Nishatpura locality, works at a liquor shop at Sangam trisection in Mangalwara.

In his complaint to police, he stated that the previous day, he had locked the shop at around 11.30 pm and returned home. As all liquor shops were closed, he opened the shop after a day in the morning around 8.30 am and was shocked to find that someone had broke into the shop through the back window and the LED TV kept on the counter was also missing. After counting the liquor stock, he found that two bumper liquor bottles and 11 quarters of a premium whisky missing.

He approached Mangalwara police station and lodged a complaint. Acting on his complaint, a case on charges of theft was registered against unidentified accused and efforts are underway to nab him. Further investigations are underway, police said.
