BHOPAL: The technical education department for the first time has signed a MoU with NTPC to establish an ITI in the state. This will be the 239th ITI in the state. This is the first time that an ITI is being opened in collaboration with a PSU.
ITI will be opened in block Badwah of village Bedia in Sanawad tehsil of Khargone district.
Director (skill development), Jitendra Singh Raje and regional executive director (NTPC) Sanjay Madan signed the MoU. Technical education minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia said that this is a step to follow the objective of industryacademia linkage where students will be prepared as per the need of the industry. Director Raje said that admission in the ITI will start from the next academic session. “About Rs 13.70 crore will be spent on the infrastructure, building, workshop, hostel, staff quarters, furniture, lab equipment and machinery, landscaping and others in ITI to be set up by NTPC in Badwah block,” said Raje.
He added that it will be a big step for the students. “Students will get a direct exposure as well as opportunity when it comes to their job. MoU with NTPC will help students in a bigger way,” said Raje.
He also informed that the capacity of this government ITI run by skill development will be 240 trainees. “It will include six regular trades like electrician, fitter, welder, motor mechanic, refrigeration and AC & COPA.
He added that this initiative of NTPC would go a long way in skill development of local youth and providing them employment-oriented training. “No government ITI was operating in the Badwah block in the past. This will be the first ITI of this block,” he added.
