BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh government on Monday declared that all schools will be reopened from February 1, 2022, and Classes I to 12 can be held with 50% attendance. Online classes will continue and parents' consent is mandatory for a child to attend physical classes.
CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced this on Twitter: "Discussions were held with medical experts on the issue of reopening schools. Accordingly, it has been decided to reopen schools for classes 1 to 12 with 50% attendance, including residential ones and hostels." There is nothing to worry about on the pandemic front, the CM said, but Covid-appropriate behaviour is necessary and face masks are mandatory.
For the convenience of students, online classes will be conducted as earlier, school education minister Inder Singh Parmar said. Bhopal district education officer Nitin Saxena said, "It is clear that parents' consent will be needed to send kids to campus."
Sources said the state government is in favour of conducting offline board exams.
'All students should go to school on days fixed for them'
School education minister Inder Singh Parmar hinted at this, and said, "All the students should go to school on the days fixed for them and take proper guidance from teachers and pay full attention to studies. The examination will be conducted on time by the department of school education." MP board exams start on February 18.
According to the order, hostel and residential schools will be operated at 100% capacity for students of classes 8, 10 and 12.
It's 50% for students of classes 6, 7, 9 and 11. Residential schools must ensure that no more than 50% students are present on any day.
Amid a surge in Covid cases and the emergence of the highly contagious Omicron variant, the Madhya Pradesh government had on January 14 issued orders to shut schools and hostels for classes 1 to 12 till January 31. tnn
