BHOPAL: After a long dry spell, state is now witnessing a healthy and prolonged wet spell, which has brought a sea change to weather as well as people’s temperament. Showers continued in Bhopal and several other places in MP on Tuesday. Light to moderate showers are expected in Bhopal for a few more days while many places in the state may also receive heavy showers.
Met officials said, there is a low pressure area over Bay of Bengal and a cyclonic circulation over south central Uttar Pradesh. Another circulation is active over south east Rajasthan and monsoon trough is passing from UP. All these systems would lead to moisture incursion and showers over several places in Madhya Pradesh, officials added.
Day temperature in Bhopal on Tuesday was recorded at 24.9 degrees Celsius, four degrees less than normal mark, while night temperature remained at 23.2 degrees Celsius, which was at the normal mark. Wind direction in the city was south-westerly and average wind speed was 20 kilometres per hour.
The places that recorded showers between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm in the day were - Sheopurkalan 64.0 mm, Malanjkhand 39.0 mm, Satna 33.0 mm, Bhopal city 21.8 mm, Bhopal 18.2 mm, Gwalior 14.1 mm, Chhindwara 14.0 mm, Shajapur 11.0 mm, Pachmarhi 11.0 mm, Guna 10.0 mm, Mandla 6.0 mm, Rewa 5.0 mm, Dhar 4.0 mm, Umaria 4.0 mm, Sidhi 3.0 mm, Raisen 2.0 mm, Hoshangabad 2.0 mm, Damoh 2.0 mm, Indore 0.7 mm, Khajuraho 0.2 mm, Jabalpur 0.1 mm, while Ratlam, Ujjain and Seoni recorded traces of rain.
In the forecast for Bhopal on Wednesday, met office stated in a release, there would be cloudy sky with possibility of thunder and rain. Day and night temperature in the city would be 25 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius, respectively, while average wind speed will be 20 kmph.
In the forecast for state, met has issued orange alert of heavy to very heavy rain and lightning for Sheopurkalan, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Guna, Gwalior, Shivpuri and Ashok Nagar districts.
Warning of heavy rainfall and lightning was issued for Rajgarh, Agar, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Vidisha, Chhatarpur, Balaghat, Panna, Shahdol and Tikamgarh districts.
