Madhya Pradesh: New Covid infections rise to 21, active cases too up at 180

BHOPAL: For the second consecutive day on Saturday, 21 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Madhya Pradesh taking the count of positive cases reported so far in the state to 7,93,474.

As per the health bulletin released by the directorate of health, there were a total of 180 active cases in the state on December 18.

Maximum cases were reported from Indore as 10 people tested positive, followed by 8 new cases from Bhopal, 2 new cases from Gwalior and 1 new case each from Betul, Katni and Shahdol districts.

Barring Indore district, new cases were reported in single digits from all the districts of the state. No new case was reported from 46 districts of the state.

Positivity rate — the number of people testing positive out every 100 samples tested — of 0.03% was reported.

Not more than 60,463 samples were tested and of it 21 were found positive. Thus, on an average, one person out of every around 3,000 who were tested, was found to be positive. A total of 16 people recovered from the disease on Saturday, taking the count of recoveries in the state so far to 7,82,765.

Apart from it, no death was reported in the state on Saturday and the death toll due to Covid-19 remained at 10,529.
