Madhya Pradesh: Mega tribal carnival ends today

BHOPAL: It has once again lived up to its reputation as the thriving cultural hub of Madhya Pradesh. And now that the foundation day festivities of Tribal Museum come to an end on Friday, the art, music, craft and culture aficionados are already wishing for yet another grand event to be organised here soon.

The five-day event that began on June 6, will culminate on Friday with a magnificent array of songs, dance, music and colours.

“The anniversary of any establishment is really special. But we have always tried to bring in innovations on such special occasions. There was Pithoragatha, a unique dance drama of Bhil tribals, choreographed for the first time. There was another dance drama based on Jatak kathas choreographed and presented in nacha form by Chhattisgarh tribals, along with songs, dance, exhibitions, puppet shows. It has been a mega event with over 500 artistes from 12 states coming together at one platform. We are happy that it was so successful, especially as it has been a part of amrit mahotsav,” said curator of the museum, Ashok Mshra.

When asked about the next major event at Tribal Museum, he said, “There will be episodes of Ram Katha presented by tribal artistes, after civic polls are over.”
