BHOPAL/JABALPUR: A division bench of the Madhya Pradesh high court headed by the chief justice Mohd Rafiq on Tuesday allowed the state government to issue the list of selected candidates for the post of medical officers with a provision of 14% reservation for the OBCs. The court had earlier stayed the operation of the government order to raise reservation for the OBCs from 14% to to 27%.
During hearing of a bunch of petitions for and against hike in quota for the OBCs on Tuesday, advocate general Purusendra Kaurav requested the court to allow appointment of medical officers in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. The advocate for petitioners opposing the hike in OBC quota, Aditya Sanghi, said he had no objection on the issue if the quota for OBCs is maintained at 14% and not 27% as the court in its interim order has said.
After hearing both the parties, the bench comprising chief justice Mohd Rafiq and justice V K Shukla allowed appointment of medical officers providing 14% reservation to OBCs. The list will be subject to the final order of the court over the issue of OBC quota in state government jobs.
