Madhya Pradesh HC issues notice to govt on stray dog attack

BHOPAL: Taking suo motu cognizance of a horrifying viral video that show a pack of stray dogs mauling a four-year-old girl in Bag Sewania locality of Bhopal, a division bench of MP high court, headed by Chief Justice R V Malimath, on Tuesday issued notices to the state chief secretary, home secretary, urban administration secretary, Bhopal collector and municipal commissioner, seeking their response on the issue.

Five stray dogs had attacked the child on Saturday and injured her badly. She is being treated at Hamidia Hospital.

Court seeks report on strays

Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had also expressed concern over the incident. On Tuesday, the HC bench of Chief Justice Malimath and Justice Purusendra Kaurav, asked the state government to present a report on the steps being taken to control the number of strays and the treatment facility provided to those attacked and injured by them.

Deputy advocate general Swapnil Ganguly appeared on behalf of the state.
