BHOPAL: A happiness class would start from this session in government CM rise schools and excellence schools in Madhya Pradesh. It would be from class 9 to class 12. Happiness would be taught to students every Saturday.
The books have been finalized for class 9 to class 12. Officials said as a pilot, the happiness class would be first introduced in the CM rise schools and excellence schools and in the second phase it will be introduced in all government schools of the state.
Training of 134 principals and vice principals have been conducted by the Happiness department. Officials said, in class 9 students would be introduced with inner happiness. In class 10 students would be made to understand the importance of family for happiness.
In class 11, their relationship with society and its importance for happiness would be taught while in class 12 students would be taught about the importance of the environment in happiness.
The happiness classes would be conducted in the bal sabha on Saturdays. There would be no exam on happiness, but if the school authorities want they can consider it in internal assessment, officials said, adding the objective is to make people understand the concept of happiness and not to force them to study a new subject.
Students of all the streams would study it. Officials of the Happiness Department said, they have already conducted demo classes with 100 students of a girl school in Bhopal a few months back and taken feedback. Before that the topic was introduced to the 80 teachers and they were told the basic idea and purpose of introducing the happiness book. Students gave an overwhelming response in the demo classes, officials added.
