BHOPAL: It’s an endeavour that is meant to give a major fillip to tourism in the state. MP government has taken a decision to develop 29 sites, including Ramgarh, Kerwa, Samardha, Bagonia, Digambar waterfall, Amargarh waterfall etc as eco-tourism hubs, by leasing them out to private players.
Our sources inform that work has already started on this front and forest areas with potential for eco-tourism are currently being identified and developed in the reserved forests of the state as wildlife experience areas. Government tenders will be issued soon for the selection of private business partners for operation, management and maintenance of eco-tourism activities at these sites across the state.
CEO of Eco Tourism Development Board Satyanand informed that 29 eco-tourism sites would be entrusted to private institutions for operation, management and maintenance for a period of 10 years.
Additional employment opportunities will be provided to forest dwellers residing near such forest areas, the CEO said.
Officials said, an agency has been selected for Panpatha near Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve and Dudhiya Talab and Bison Highway Retreat located near Pench Tiger Reserve.
Tenders will be issued for Ramgarh, Kerwa, Samardha, Bagonia in Bhopal, Kathotia, Digambar waterfall, Amargarh waterfall in Sehore, Dhari Kotla, Boria Mal and Gunjari, Amondagarh, Ammamai, Sharda Mandir Hill, Mahadev Gufa and Fareed Baba, Lamajoti Tala, Jungle Cottage in South Seoni Forest Division, Butterfly Park, Zip Line Kharbai among others, officials added.
