BHOPAL/JABALPUR: A schoolgirl in Jabalpur was gangraped by five persons, four of them minors, for eight months before she could muster courage to tell her parents.
The rapists had threatened to release videos of the sexual assault on social media, forcing her to stay silent. All five accused have been arrested.
Police say the 16-year-old girl had an affair with a boy of her age about a year ago. The rapist, also a schoolboy, took a video of the rape and raped her over and over again over the next few weeks.
Then, he used the same threat to force her into submitting to rape by three of his friends. On Wednesday, one of the rapists took her to a deserted construction site where he and a fifth youth gangraped her, threatening her with the earlier rape videos. The survivor decided to confide in her parents, who immediately took her to police. Cantonment police station in charge Vijay Tiwari said the survivor was sent for medical examination.
