BHOPAL: The countdown has begun to Janmashtami, a festival which is celebrated with spiritual fervour across the country.
To mark the colourful event, the Janjatiya Lok Kala Evam Boli Vikas Academy of Madhya Pradesh and Triveni Museum, are organising a three-day cultural fiesta, which would commence on Sunday, albeit in the virtual mode.
There are a host of interesting programmes being organised on the occasion, said director of Janjatiya Lok Kala Evam Boli Vikas Academy, Dr Dharmendra Pare. “From Krishnayan Kathak to discourse on Krishna’s relevance and his importance in Himachali culture, there are myriad interesting events to cater to all kinds of audience,” said Dr Pare.
Lalit Parv is being organised as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, said the director and added, “It is basically the celebration of a Lok Parv. We recently got a survey done, according to which there are vast numbers of Krishna temples in all the 52 districts of Madhya Pradesh. Lord Krishna is therefore an intrinsic part of our society and we are trying to depict as many dimensions of His enigmatic personality as possible through this annual event.”
The highlights of the parv are Dr Gautam Sharma’s discourse on Krishna on the inaugural day on Sunday. On day-2, Dr C P Unnikrishnan will speak about ‘Krishna in Kathakali’. On the concluding day, there will be bhajans as well as a dance drama on Krishna, which will keep the virtual audience glued.
All these events will be streamed live on various social media platforms.
