Madhya Pradesh: Cops guard migrant labourer threatened by banker in Tikamgarh

BHOPAL: Police in Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh is extending security to a labourer after a high court for the same issued last month. The migrant labourer, Tulsidas Ahirwar, 27, is allegedly under threat from a bank manager, who was caught red handed while accepting bribe for increasing Kisan credit card (KCC) limit in 2017.

The bank official was trapped after Tulsi's complaint to the CBI. Four years ago, when VK Jain, bank manager of a regional rural bank allegedly demanded bribe for resetting the credit limit of the KCC of Tulsi's uncle, he (Tulsi) asked his uncle not to oblige the bank official. The bank official had allegedly demanded Rs 4,000. Instead, Tulsi decided to lodge a complaint with some government agency and found out which agency to approach. “I was informed that CBI is the right agency, so I approached the officials in Jabalpur,” he said. The CBI laid a trap and the manager was caught. The case is still pending with a CBI court, police said.

As the hearings started, Tulsi alleged that he was being pressured to change his statements. But he refused to succumb to the pressure.” A resident of Shrinagar village of Tikamgarh, he pursued the case. But on March1 this year, one of his close relatives had died under suspicious circumstances and Tulsi alleged foul play and murder.

He also urged an investigation and approached the high court for security. It was then that the court ordered the district police to provide security to Tulsi. Before all this had happened from 2017 to 2021, he had already migrated to Delhi for employment. SHO of Dehat police station Naseer Faruqui said, “we provide him security as soon as he reaches Tikamgarh and the security cover continues till he stays here.”

Before boarding a train or bus from Delhi, he would inform me about his programme and we send a constable to guard him. Faruqui said that after reaching Tikamgarh, Tulsi generally proceeds to his village 20 kms away from here and our constable takes him home on his bike and remains with him till Tulsi's stay in the village.
