Madhya Pradesh: Congress sees red with BJP’s door-to-door ‘Kanya Pujan’

BHOPAL: State BJP is going door-to-door worshipping little girls as part of the Navratri celebrations in bypoll bound constituencies. The ruling party has named this campaign as “Shakti Mein Bhakti”.

Party workers in the Khandwa Lok Sabha constituency, Prithvipur, Raigaon and Jobat assembly seats are touching the feet of little girls and conducting Kanya Pooja.

On Dussehra, BJP will walk from house- to-house hoisting the party’s flag before the bypolls. Congress is seeing red and called this “political Kanya Poojan before the bypolls”.

Retaliating to the Congress’ allegations, state BJP president V D Sharma said, “Nav Durga festival is the worship of female strength and celebrated in every household, not because the BJP has asked people to. Everyone celebrates and BJP is also an organization of human beings.”

Sharma argued that just because it is election time, party will not leave the country’s culture and tradition. “These people of the Congress party have never worked for the culture of India or ever worked to protect it. They are just hungry for power. And to acquire power, they mislead people, divide and rule, spread false propaganda. Why don’t they also have Kanya Pooja, who asked them not to?” the state BJP president asked.

Opposition Congress is enraged over the BJP’s Kanya Pooja campaign before bypolls. “BJP is a very hypocrite party,” said state Congress media cell vice-president and spokesman Bhupendra Gupta.
