BHOPAL: Ahead of Madhya Pradesh government's two day mega vaccination drive slated for August 25-26, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan called on Union health, family welfare and chemical and fertilizer minister Mansukh Mandaviya in his New Delhi office on Monday and urged him to provide 11 lakh vaccines before August 25 to make the mega drive successful.
Chouhan also requested the minister to release 4.13 lakh metric tones of urea and 3.05 lakh metric tones of DAP from the state's quota.
Chouhan reached New Delhi from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh where he attended the last rites of BJP leader Kalyan Singh and met Mandaviya in the afternoon. The two leaders discussed in detail about the vaccination drive being organised in Madhya Pradesh and demand for urea and DAP after rains.
"The vaccination drive is being run across the country and the government is committed to administer both doses to 100 percent citizens in Madhya Pradesh. The state government has organised the second phase of the mega vaccination drive (Mahabhiyan) on August 25 and
26. The government aims to vaccinate a total of 35 lakh citizens in two days," said Chouhan.
Union minister Mandaviya assured Chouhan to provide the required 11 lakh vaccine doses by August 24.
The chief minister also informed Mandaviya that sowing of paddy crop is in progress for which the demand for DAP has increased in the state. Along with this, drop dressing of urea is being done in maize and paddy crops, due to which the demand for urea has also gone high.
"Against a demand of 12.13 lakh metric tones of urea by the state, only 8 lakh metric tones have been allotted by the Centre. Similarly, allocation of DAP is only 5 lakh MT against the demand of 8.05 lakh MT by the state. I request you to release the remaining 4.13 lakh metric tones of urea and 3.05 lakh metric tones of DAP," said Chouhan.
As suggested by Union minister Mandaviya, the chief minister also spoke about implementing the e-RUPI voucher scheme for fertilizers as a pilot project in one district in Madhya Pradesh. He also discussed about promoting NPK and SSP fertilizers along with Nano-urea in the agriculture sector.
