BHOPAL: Online ‘Gamak’ series, which has been organised by department of culture Madhya Pradesh and Tribal Museum, has been feeding the parched souls with delightful daily doze of music, dance, theatre and more. Even during the process of ongoing unlock, when large public events are still not happening, it continues to feed the culture lovers. On Wednesday, the virtual audience was treated to a double delight of Kathak and classical gayan-.This particular event was put together by Ustad Alauddin Khan Sangeet Evam Kala Academy.
The highlight of the evening was Kathak performance by danseuse Garvita Dongre. She started her performance on a spiritual note with ‘Shiv vandana’ and then slowly took her audience to a visual high as she performed to Pt Birju Maharaj’s bandish, ‘Jage ho kahin raina’ and ‘Kanha re Nand nandan’. The audience enjoyed all the delicate nuances of her dancing style, including subtle bhava, abhinaya and laykari.
Later, Meera Vaishnav’s classical vocal recital was like a cherry on the cake. From khayal to chhota khayal, and the bhajan in keharwa taal - ‘Uddho karman ki gati nyari’ - her rendition had a maturity and sublime sweetness which instantly formed a connect with the online audience.
