Madhya Pradesh: BJP MLA's son booked for intimidation post father's election triumph

BHOPAL: Within hours after Pritam Lodhi was elected as BJP MLA from Shivpuri's Pohari constituency, police in Gwalior district registered an FIR against his son for criminal intimidation.

Pritam Lodhi has defeated congress candidate Arvind Lodhi by 21,000 votes. This is apparently first win by BJP from this seat in over last three decades.

Police said a case has been registered against MLA’s son Dinesh Lodhi.

In an incident revolving around electoral rivalry, Dinesh allegedly issued threatening remarks to a young man, who then filed a complaint with the Purani Chhawni police station, Gwalior.

The incident took place late on Sunday around 10 pm, when the youth, identified as Sikandar Singh Yadav, received a call from Dinesh Lodhi, warning him of dire consequences now that his father held an MLA position.

Sikandar Yadav, a resident of Jalalpur, recorded the entire conversation and reported the incident to the authorities at the Purani Chawni police station.

Subsequently, the police registered a case against Dinesh Lodhi for intimidation based on Sikandar's complaint and the provided audio evidence.

This issue stems from electoral differences between Dinesh Lodhi, and Sikandar Yadav, which originated during civic polls campaign. Tensions started due to their opposing roles in the election, leading to ongoing disputes between the two parties.

Speaking on the incident, authorities from the Old Cantonment police station confirmed the receipt of the threat complaint against Dinesh Lodhi. A case has been officially registered, and an active investigation is underway. The police assured that further actions would be taken based on emerging evidence and facts pertaining to the case.

SP Rajesh Singh Chandel said a case has been registered against Dinesh Lodhi under various sections. Police also say that he has previous crime records.
