BHOPAL: Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Friday that the second wave of Coronavirus has been controlled in the state, but the possibilities of a third wave still exist. A large number of Corona cases are still being reported in the states of Kerala and Maharashtra. Therefore, full vigilance and precautions must be taken while preparations continue in full swing to face the potential third wave.
Chouhan said that the work of corona vaccination should be accelerated in the state. The state is getting a sufficient number of vaccines from the Centre and it will continue getting vaccines as per its requirements, he said.The state is 4th in the country in terms of Corona vaccination as of now but the pace of vaccination must be further accelerated, he said. The chief minister was reviewing the Coronavirus situation in the state and preparations for the third wave and vaccination work through video conferencing at Mantralaya.
It was told during the review meeting that there are 121 active cases of Corona in the state. Besides, 10 new cases have been reported. About 70 thousand tests are being conducted daily in the state. The positivity rate is 0.01 percent. The state ranks 30th in the country in terms of Corona infection.
Chouhan directed all the district collectors to ensure timely preparations for the third wave in their respective districts, which includes increasing the number of beds in hospitals, establishment of Oxygen plants, ICU wards, CT Scan and other testing arrangements, arrangement of essential medicines, specialist doctors, paramedical staff, technicians etc.
