Jabalpur: EOW team from Jabalpur caught the reader of a tehsildar in Balaghat district while taking bribe of Rs 35000 in Balaghat district on Sunday.
Sources from EOW said that accused Paimendra Harinkhede had sought a bribe of Rs 40,000 from complainant Arun Jethwa. He had sought this bribe for removing names of the former partners of Jethwa from the land records of his factory.
The accused had already taken Rs 5000 as an advance of the Rs 40,000 bribe on June 15, said sources. Subsequently Jethwa complained to EOW Jabalpur and a trap was laid by after verifying the complaint. On Sunday a team of EOW Jabalpur caught the reader while taking Rs 35,000 as final instalment of bribe from his residence in Lalbarra tehsil of the district, added sources.
Sources said that the accused had initially sought a bribe of Rs 50,000 but had come down to Rs 40,000 after negotiations.
