Madhya Pradesh: 30% rise in active Covid cases in a week, half of districts have at least 1 patient

BHOPAL: Half of the districts in the state now have at least one active Covid-19 patient while MP’s active caseload increased by over 30% in past seven days.

As on May 26, at least one active patient was in found in 26 out of 52 districts of the state. And on May 26, there were a total of 307 active patients in the state. A week ago on May 19, there were only 236 active patients and there was at least one active patient in 24 districts of the state.

However, in a relief only 15 out of 307 active Covid-19 patients are admitted at hospital and of those 15, only 5 are in ICUs/HDUs. A month ago, in the end of April there were only 18 districts which had at least one Covid-19 active patient. Spread of infection is clearly visible albeit hospitalizations have remained constantly low.

And of these 10 districts, active cases have increased in 8 districts. Like Raisen which has 40 active patients as on May 26, only had 13 patients on May 19. Niwari only had 6 active cases a week ago and now there are 13 active cases. Betul only had 3 active cases a week ago and now there are only 11 active cases. Of the top 10 districts active cases have decreased only in Bhopal and Gwalior districts.

Sources said that the number of cases are still less and most importantly there has been less hospitalizations but given to the panchayat and civic polls ahead, adherence to Covid-19 appropriate behavior is a must.
