BHOPAL: A 25-year-old woman and her 11-year-old daughter were killed and a dozen other were injured when an explosion took place at a house where fire-crackers were stored in Shvipuri district of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday.
The incident took place at Badarwas tehsil headquarters of Shivpuri district in the house of Pappu Mansuri and Bablu Mansuri at around 11.30 am. Deceased have been identified as Tabassum,25, wife of Imran and Umra, 11, daughter of Tabassum.
SP Shivpuri, Rajesh Singh Chandel said, "Two people including a 11 year old girl have died and 8 have sustained severe injuries. Besides a few who sustained minor injuries. Condition of one of the injured is very serious now. Four of them are admitted at Shivpuri district hospital and four were referred to Guna district hospital".
"The fire-cracker owner’s shop was at different location but he had stored explosives at his residence. We will take action against the shop owner as storage of explosives was not authorized at the place where it was kept", he added.
Sources said that those injured also includes children. The explosion was so severe that nearby houses also felt the tremor. Exact causes of that triggered the explosion are not clear yet, it is suspected that probably due to summer temperature is already high, it could have led to the blast, added sources. Fire-fighters and ambulances rushed to the spot after the incident, district collector and SP also reached the spot and the injured were rushed to hospital.
