INDORE: Deaths due to Covid-19 disease increased to 257 from 85 in Neemuch district on Thursday after an audit confirmed 173 more loss of lives due to the viral infection.
“Deaths, which were reported during the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic in the months of April and May, have been included in the cumulative figures after an audit confirmed their cause as Covid,” Neemuch chief medical health officer (CMHO) Mahesh Malviya told TOI.
“With the new entries, all ‘backlogs’ of deaths have now been cleared. The district has not reported any fresh death due to Covid in the recent past,” the CMHO added.
In the last 10 days, Indore and Ujjain divisions have witnessed Mandsaur, Khargone and Barwani clearing a similar ‘backlog’ of deaths.
On July 14, Mandsaur had reported 46 deaths due to Covid-19, Khargone 112 and Barwani 85. Now, Mandsaur Covid toll has increased from 84 to 130, Khargone 239 to 351and Barwani 85 to 175.
On Thursday, Indore district reported seven new corona cases, while one person tested positive for the virus in Khargone district. No new case was reported in Ujjain, Dewas, Shajapur, Ratlam, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Agar, Dhar, Jhabua, Alirajpur, Barwani, Khandwa and Burhanpur.
