The eight-part series retraces the steps of the high-profile missing persons case after the three-year-old vanished from her bed in a Portuguese holiday resort in 2007.
And would-be detectives picked up on one claim in the show which they think could be key to solving the mystery.
In one episode of The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann, it is claimed the toddler was "sleepy" before Gerry and Kate McCann picked her up from a daycare centre in Praia da Luz.
The couple took regular turns checking on her while they dined at a tapas restaurant nearby, before they realised their daughter was not there.
Social media users think Maddie was spied on by someone at the resort's Kids Club before she and twin siblings Sean and Amelie were drugged.
They say this would explain why her brother and sister didn't wake up when the unknown kidnapper struck.

Taking to Twitter, Nicola Begg said: "So what if [the kidnapper] had been watching Maddie, watched that the McCanns were leaving their apartment for dinner and checking every half an hour, then on the day she disappeared gave the three kids something to make them so tired they wouldn’t wake?
"Then went in after Gerry first checked on the kids, took Maddie easily as the kids had been drugged, sold her on etc? Just one theory."
And other fans of the show agreed with the idea and posted their own version of what may have taken place that night, with some believing she was sold through the 'dark web'.
Laura Spencer wrote: "One theory- Kate's friends said Maddie was really tired coming back from the kids club. Possibly [someone] had his eye on her, drugged her earlier in the day to make sure she wouldn't kick up a fuss when she was snatched later in the evening."
And Maddie O'Leary said: "My opinion having watched episode 7/8 is that the McCann children were all sedated by someone (that’s why they were tired and didn’t wake when people were coming in and out the flat) then someone abducted Maddie somehow and sold her through the dark web."

Over 40 experts and key people involved in the investigation into Maddie's disappearance are feature in the much-talked about docuseries.
Covering the various versions of what might have happened, the show covers how bungling cops wrongly pinned the blame on Gerry and Kate before sensationally claiming that the youngster may still be alive.
It goes on to say that Portugal is rife with traffickers who use it because they can easily transport stolen children to other countries.
