Madeleine McCann suspect Christian Brueckner was jailed for sexually abusing a former girlfriend’s young daughter.
The paedophile, 43, assaulted the five-year-old in a public park before taking graphic photos of her and saving them on a laptop.
Police discovered the vile images while investigating him over a separate domestic violence case.
The attack took place in 2013 – six years after three-year-old Madeleine vanished – when Brueckner was living in Braunschweig, northern Germany.
He had already split from the girl’s mother when detectives found the photos.
But police tracked her down in another part of Germany.
Brueckner fled to Portugal but was extradited back to Germany and was jailed for 15 months in 2017.
He is now serving another sentence for drugs offences in Kiel.
German authorities believe he murdered Madeleine, who disappeared in Praia da Luz in 2007.
