Made in Manchester - Valve

WHO ARE THEY?

A young Manchester quintet who’ll be playing the biggest show of their career this weekend at O2 Victoria Warehouse. Hailing from Stockport, indie newcomers Valve are the surprise last minute addition to the massive Raise The Roof charity fundraiser – joining a line-up which includes The Courteeners, Blossoms and Bugzy Malone. No pressure then.

If you’ve seen them perform over the past year, however, you’ll surely be in no doubt about Valve’s ability to cope on the biggest stages – thanks to their truly gargantuan pop tunes. Their influences may be easy to spot – winsome C86 indie, 90s Britpop, contemporary dream-pop – but, like all the best Manchester pop bands, Valve know how to reconfigure familiar tropes into something strange, memorable and melodic. The band’s debut single, the Cure-inspired Lilac Eyes, is a perfect example of the band’s idiosyncratic pop vision – prepare to experience major goosebumps when they perform it at O2 Victoria Warehouse this weekend.

FOR FANS OF:

Pale Waves, The Orielles, Swim Deep, Fuzzy Sun.
