Made in Manchester - Nina Cobham

WHO IS SHE?

A Manchester singer whose beautiful jazz-soul sound belies her tender years. Still only 17, Nina Cobham first popped up on our radar during the summer when she dropped her track, Te extraño pero, a lush, stunningly emotive nu-soul track which clocked up over 15,000 Spotify plays in a matter of weeks.

Tender but assured, the track perfectly encapsulated the Nina Cobham sound: soft, husky vocals, jazzy keyboards and intriguing hip-hop percussion – the whole thing oozing soulful sophistication.

Since the release of that track, the teenager sensation has enjoyed a stellar rest of 2019. She's received airplay from BBC Radio 1Xtra, earned some high-profile fans in the form of Manc heroes Children of Zeus and, only last month, she was invited to play the prestigious music industry showcase Off The Record.

Only a fool would bet against her making the leap from Manchester favourite to full-on national adoration over the course of 2020.
