Made in Manchester - Lindsay Munroe

WHO IS SHE?

The Manchester acoustic scene’s most exciting young graduate. Cutting her teeth on the local open mic scene for the past three years, singer-songwriter Lindsay Munroe has, more recently, begun to develop a more expansive, cinematic alt-folk sound. Her songs are built upon simple foundations – voice, guitar, wistful storytelling – but she never fails to wring startling depths of emotions from that familiar template. Songs such as Little Storm evoke the gothic melodrama of Sharon Van Etten’s more recent work, while standout track All The Things You Wouldn’t Miss recalls the artful poise and grandeur of early Laura Marling. Check out her gig at the Castle Hotel next week – accompanied by a full band – and witness an artist at the very peak of her powers.

FOR FANS OF:

Laura Marling, Sharon Van Etten, Marika Hackman, Daughter.
