Who is she?:
A Manchester musician who might you recognise from another top local band – as well as her fronting her own solo project, Julia Bardo also plays guitar in the hotly-tipped Working Men’s Club. Her solo work, however, is a whole sonic universe away from the punky effervescence of her other band. Bardo’s newly released debut single, Desire, simply oozes sixties pop nostalgia, her silky vocals and imploring lyrics sitting above a soundscape that’s equal parts Joni Mitchell and Phil Spector. With a debut album to follow later this year, plus a string of summer festival dates – and not forgetting her commitments with Working Men’s Club - Julia Bardo is one Manc starlet you’ll be seeing plenty of over the next few months and beyond.
