WHO ARE THEY?

A Mancunian outfit who clearly aren't afraid to explore the dark side. Indeed, of the many exciting local acts currently channeling the sounds of Eighties post-punk, fledgling quintet Document are arguably the one band who most convincingly summon the era's sense of murky unease and malevolence. A firestorm of sharp riffs, clattering percussion and bloodcurdling vocals, their songs combine the unhinged energy of The Fall with The Birthday Party's feral ferocity. The end result – as shown on standout tracks such as Thunder – is a sound that’s equal parts electrifying and unsettling. After a standout performance at Dot To Dot Festival earlier this summer, the boys will be playing at the Deaf Institute next weekend as support for fellow Manc hopefuls Lynchs – catch them now before they properly blow up in 2020.
