Made in Manchester - Bleach Body

WHO ARE THEY?

A guitar trio whose members hail from all across Europe – Greece, Poland and Manchester - but who met and formed in this city around two years ago. Sonically, however, Bleach Body's heart surely belongs to America - in particular, the Seattle of the 1990s. Their visceral sound channels the dirty aggression of grunge, combining it with elements of modern psych, nu-wave and garage-rock. Propelled by jagged riffs, pounding rhythms and defiant bass, their best songs – especially standout track I Don’t Need No Talent, I Got Guts – offer splendid reaffirmation of punk-rock's eternal verities. Those songs are elevated even further, of course, by their Greek-born frontwoman Ioanna Manoli, whose vocals – echoing early PJ Harvey – can veer from a whisper to scream, always raw and always stunningly cathartic.
