Made in Manchester - Badgirl$

WHO ARE THEY?

Undoubtedly the one Manchester band everyone should be queuing up to see at Neighbourhood Festival this weekend. Recently signed to the Sony-affiliated Black Butter record label on the strength of a few Soundcloud demos, Manc trio Badgirl$ have seemingly come from nowhere to become the city's most feted new act. Impossible to pin down, their sound absorbs everything from trap and hip-hop to grunge and post-punk influences – a swirling, magpie-ish blend that’s held together with strong pop hooks, innovative production and an innate Mancunian swagger. Stunning debut single Only 1 – imagine a cross between Lil Peep and Joy Division – has received rave reviews, and the trio have already been confirmed to appear alongside Slowthai, Mike Skinner and Fredo at the Warehouse Project in December. The year 2020 is surely theirs for the taking.

FOR FANS OF:

Jamie T, Bipolar Sunshine, Slowthai.

MAKE A DATE:

Badgirl$ play Zombie Shack (as part of Neighbourhood Festival) on Saturday, October 12. Listen to tracks at soundcloud.com/user-badgirls
