WHO IS SHE?
An exciting young soul singer who was born in Poland, now residing in Manchester – a ‘Polecunian’, as she likes to describe herself. Of course, crafting wonderful new identities seems to be a real talent of Anamelia’s. Absorbing a range of influences, from neo-soul and R&B to the traditional Polish folk music that she grew up listening to, Anamelia creates a delicious hybrid sound, driven by crisp, trap-influenced beats, bracing melodies and lyrics of strong empowerment. All this and a set of pipes that grab you from the first syllable: one minute wounded, roaring with fiery defiance the next. Armed with an outstanding new EP, Elements, she’ll no doubt steal the show at her next live outing, appearing at Manchester urban showcase Inner City Waves next week.
