Made In Chelsea star Sam Thompson blasted by alopecia sufferer after joking about bald filter

Made In Chelsea star Sam Thompson has been criticised by a woman with alopecia for posting a joke image which made his co-star sister appear bald.

The 28-year-old reality TV star used a Snapchat filter to make Louise look like she had no hair, but the image posted on Instagram upset 37-year-old Emma Archer.

Sam had wrote alongside the edited pic of his sister: "Gotta love Snapchat filter. Pulls it off to be fair.'"

But Emma, who has had alopecia for over 20 years, wasn't happy with the post and decided to leave the star a comment.

She wrote that, while she is a fan of his, she didn't find the post funny at all.

Sam's post was subsequently removed after over 62,000 people had viewed it, but Emma sent him a direct message saying he should put up a public apology.

However, the star's response left her flabbergasted.

Sharing the private messages with the Daily Mail, Emma showed what was sent to her.

"If I had it my way it would still be up," he replied.

The dumbfounded fan went on to explain why she didn't find the post funny and how she had been affected by alopecia for over two decades.

But the star remained unmoved in his views and asked Emma if she thought the filter shouldn't exist solely to appease those who suffer hair loss.

Emma snapped back: "It's like a wheelchair filter? This is my disability."

The pair continued their heated exchange and Sam refused to back down. He confessed that he didn't see alopecia as a disability.

Emma strongly disagreed and stated: "It's the same as mental health or any other hidden disability."

Sam again refused to change his thoughts and said the filter was the same as the beard filter which is available on the app.

As the duo butted heads in each other's Instagram inbox some more, Emma blasted the star for being "f***ing insensitive" and told him to "just own it if you find that s**t funny".

But once again Sam admitted he didn't see the harm in his post and told her that others can find the filter funny even if she doesn't.

Speaking to the Daily Mail about their interaction, a distraught Emma said: "As a person with 1.3 million followers I believe he should be using his platform to promote positive messages.

"Not taking the mick out of people's disabilities."

Emma, who bravely admitted she lost 80 per cent of her hair at the height of her alopecia, said that the fact the post was removed shows it was distasteful.

But she said she was shocked that the star hadn't seen the issue with the post.

"How does he think this will affect someone's mental and health?," she questioned.

Emma explained that as a 20-year-old, losing your hair is a big deal.

She confessed that she had even been turned away from places after wearing a hat to conceal her hair loss.
